Аннотация: We were gratified by the high praise we received from all corners of the anatomic world after publication of the first edition of Atlas of Anatomy. The generous comments of colleagues and students assured us that the atlas was a valuable addition to the learning experience, citing among other things the unparalleled artwork that extends to the level of individual muscles and muscles tables presented in an easy-to-learn summary format. We are especially indebted to those of you who reported omissions, inconsistencies, and typographical, factual, and even artistic errors that escaped the authors, editors, and reviewers. We encourage your continued input, as this motivates and helps us to make each edition of the atlas even more effective than the previous one. Our mission in this new edition, as in the first edition, is to provide the most complete, up-to-date and effective reference for teaching and studying human anatomy. The core of this new edition remains the more than 2,400 elegant illustrations and schematics, over 150 summary tables, and the effective two-page spreads for presenting concepts. As in the first edition, the presentation is by region and within each region the content is presented in a similar order. Each unit now starts with the surface anatomy of that region and follows with bones, muscles, vasculature, nerves, through to the topographical summary of the area. Where appropriate, sectional anatomy is found at the end of each chapter. In this edition we have reorganized some chapters and spreads in an effort to more closely parallel the progression and content of a typical dissection curriculum. New artwork and expanded text now offers more comprehensive coverage of specific topics. Images that illustrate more than one organ or region are still conveniently repeated as needed. In this second edition of Atlas of Anatomy, readers will find that we have: • reorganized the material of the combined Abdomen & Pelvis unit into two separate units, Abdomen and Pelvis & Perineum, with the addition of many new illustrations. • moved the spreads on the spinal cord and cranial meninges from the Neuroanatomy unit into the Back and Head & Neck units, where they are more accessible to students of gross anatomy. • expanded the surface anatomy spreads and moved them to the beginning of each unit.• added sectional anatomy spreads to the end of each unit. • added new and updated artwork in all sections of the atlas. We hope that students and teaching faculty find these revisions helpful. Our colleagues at Thieme Publishers have been the essential core of this effort and we are enormously grateful for their support. We especially thank Anne Vinnicombe, Editorial Director for Educational Products, who throughout this project has been available to advise, encourage, and at times even commiserate with each of us. Her professional vision has been a valuable contribution to this manuscript. She is the force who kept us on track and always moving forward. We also want to thank our Developmental Editor, Avalon Garcia, who worked tirelessly, and with admirable patience, to coordinate and interpret our input. Additional thanks go to our Production Editor, Megan Conway, who in spite of the hectic schedules of the three authors, coordinated the production of this new volume with remarkable speed with the able help of Editorial Assistant, Debra Zharnest.

Аннотация: This new edition was revised and structured anew in different ways. Each chapter is provided with an introductory front page to give an overview of the topics of the chapter and short descriptions. The whole introductory chapter “General Anatomy” was newly arranged and supported with introductory texts, thus??facilitating students to better understand the complicated “world” of gross anatomy. The large chapter 2 “Head and Neck” was split into 5 sub-chapters with an introductory page each. Furthermore, the drawings were revised and improved in many chapters and depicted more consistently. In most of the chapters new photographs taken from newly dissected specimens were incorporated. The general structure and arrangement of the Atlas were maintained. The chapters of regional anatomy are consequently placed behind the systematic descriptions of the anatomical structures so that students can study – e.g. before dissecting an extremity – the systematic anatomy of bones, joints, muscles, nerves and vessels. For studying the photographs of the specimens the use of a magnifier might be helpful. The enormous plasticity of the photos is surprising, especially at higher magnifications. In many places new MRI and CT scans were added to give consi-deration to the new imaging techniques which become more and more important for the student in preclinics. We would like to express our sincere thanks to Prof. Heuck, Munich, who provided us with the MRI scans. In the underlying seventh edition photographs of the surface anatomy of the human body were included again. We omitted marks and indications in order not to affect the quality of the pictures. Despite numerous additions and amendments the size of the volume did not increase so that students both in preclinics and in clinics are offered an atlas easy to handle and cope with. While preparing this new edition, the authors were reminded of how precisely, beautifully, and admirably the human body is constructed. If this book helps the student or medial doctor to appreciate the overwhelming beauty of the anatomical architecture of tissues and organs in the human, then it greatly fulfils its task. Deep interest and admiration of the anatomical structures may create the “love for man”, which alone can be considered of primary importance for daily medical work. We would like to express our great gratitude to all coworkers for their skilled work. Without their help the improvements of the Color Atlas of Anatomy would not have been possible. We would also like to express our sincere thanks to those at Schattauer GmbH, Stuttgart, Germany, Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins, Baltimore, Maryland, USA, and Igaku-Shoin, Tokyo, Japan, who always listened to our suggestions and invested again a great deal of their effort into improving this book.

Аннотация: This edition of Grant’s Atlas has, like its predecessors, required intense research, market input, and creativity. It is not enough to rely on a solid reputation; with each new edition, we have adapted and changed many aspects of the Atlas while maintaining the commitment to pedagogical excellence and anatomical realism that has enriched its long history. Medical and health sciences education, and the role of anatomy instruction and application within it, continually evolve to re ect new teaching approaches and educational models. The health care system itself is changing, and the skills and knowledge that future health care practitioners must master are changing along with it. Finally, technologic advances in publishing, particularly in online resources and electronic media, have transformed the way students access content and the methods by which educators teach content. All of these developments have shaped the vision and directed the execution of this fourteenth edition of Grant’s Atlas , as evidenced by the following key features.

Аннотация: This new seventh edition of McMinn and Abrahams’ Clinical Atlas of Human Anatomy is the culmination of 40 years’ work by a huge team. The first three editions of this seminal colour atlas were authored by Professor Bob McMinn, Ralph Hutchings and Bari Logan, and the last four editions have been the results of a combined academic endeavour of the now departed “giants” Professors John Pegington (University College London), Sandy Marks (University of Massachusetts, USA) and Hanno Boon (Pretoria, South Africa) working with myself (PHA).

Аннотация: It took a number o people many years to create the rst edition o The Color Atlas of Internal Medicine. For me (Dr. Usatine) as the lead editor, it is a li elong work that started with little notebooks I kept in my white coat pocket to take notes during my residency. It then took on color when I began keeping a camera at work and taking photographs with my patient’s permission o any interesting clinical nding that I might use to teach medical students and residents the art and science o medicine. I was inspired by many great physicians, including Dr. Jimmy Hara, who had the most amazing 35-mm slide collection o clinical images. His knowledge o medicine is encyclopedic and I thought that his taking photographs might have something to do with that. Also, I realized that these photographs would greatly enhance my teaching o others. As I began to expand my practice to see more dermatology cases, my photograph collection skyrocketed. Digital photography made it more a ordable and practical to take and catalogue many new images. The Color Atlas of Internal Medicine is written or internists and all health care providers involved in caring or adults. It can also be invaluable to medical students, residents, and dermatologists.
